PostHeaderIcon What would be the first thing to do to relieve symptoms of a full-blown panic attack?

I need to know how to get through an attack.Discovered they usually last about 10 or so minutes.
Cuz somtimes I think I might die or be dying from somthing physical. So I tell myself that I am not dying, things gonna be ok…. EXCEPT dont wanna take drugs; m

Take a really deep breath hold it until you count to ten and release, do this about 5 times. Also, you need to stop and think about a time or place that you felt really happy and safe. Once you have this place in mind (it could be anything, mine is on a snow covered mountain in Colorado that I felt so much piece.) Then you concentrate really hard and imagine yourself in that location. You should feel the symptoms ease slowly but surely. You can also try prayer as God is the only true healer.

They do make emergency meds like xanax and ativan which provide a lot of people great results. If you are hyperventilating try wetting a washcloth and placing it in your mouth…I know it sounds nutty but we do it at the hospital to slow the rate of breathing. There are lots of books available about imagery and how to calm yourself, try looking at the bookstore or online. Also a good therapist to get to the root of why you are having panic attacks.

Well, my advice is to force yourself to take deep breaths, first to try and calm down. The best thing you can do… let Jesus Christ be the lord of your life, and fill up with the Holy Spirit. He was sent to heal and help us as well as save us. If you have Jesus as your Lord you can cast your cares on him and he will lighten the load. God wants us to lean on him, to turn to him when we're in trouble. And he tells us not to worry but to pray. I haven't experienced panic attacks, but I used to stress out a lot, and get very angry. Now I just talk to God and let him help me get through it, whatever it is. Believe me he has supernatural powers that can help way better that anything on this planet.

Get away from whatever's causing the panic attack. If you feel one starting, excuse yourself and go to the nearest bathroom until you can calm down.

stop hyperventilating and just breathe. Or go and sit in ER waiting room and relax. You know you are safe there if anything happens to so you don't have to stress about having a heart attack or stroke or whatever you panic about.
