One of the world&#8217;s foremost anxiety experts, the late Dr. Claire Weekes, described how almost all anxiety disorders start from a type of exhaustion- physical, mental, or emotional.  When depleted in any one of these areas, the body and mind become very sensitized and susceptible to &#8220;nervous illness&#8221; &#8212; the term she used for what we now know as anxiety disorder.  Dr. Weekes described the state of a person who feels jittery and susceptible to shock, whether internal, such as a rapid heartbeat, or external, like a door slamming.  The more confused people become about these types of sensations, the more fearful they become that something is SERIOUSLY wrong with their minds or bodies.  Without<em> <a title="Panic Attack Help" href="http://www.panicattackhelp.net/PAtext" target="_blank">panic attack help</a></em> a thought can send the body and mind into a tailspin of anxiety, as is the case with panic attacks.  Dr. Weekes noted how easy it is for people to form serious phobias when dealing with chronic anxiety.  For example, people may feel a bit uneasy while travelling by plane, when they suddenly become anxious because a thought they have had has scared them into thinking that the plane is going to crash or become hijacked. <p>Panic attacks are so bad that they can disturb your life in so many ways. It may even lead to loss of family, friends and more importantly your job. There are medications and therapies which will aid panic attacks though. However, there are a lot of ways to overcome panic attacks and see them off or keep it under control. </p>
<p>Physical reactions are caused by panic attacks. Medications and therapies only help controlling these reactions but not fully curing them. It can go to the extent of stabilizing your body but it mostly depends on the person to cope up with such attacks when it strikes. A psychiatrist can help in a great way to revive back to normalcy. He may even advice you on the medication before any treatment. </p>
<p>Mostly, anti-depressants and anti anxiety medication are prescribed for panic attacks on the body. Beta blockers can be used to treat symptoms, mainly physical, associated with the anxiety attacks. You tend to focus more on the psychological portion of the fear and anxiety by helping yourself physically. Tricyclic, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, benzodiazepines and Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors or the SSRIs are anti-depressants that can aid symptoms of anxiety disorders. Many a time, anxiety leads to depression and unwanted worry. These medications, however, help you bring some lost relief. Apparently, benzodiazepines help to reduce panic attacks surprisingly up to 80%. Medications differ for every sort of panic attack.</p>
<p>No medication should be hurried as it takes sometime for the medicines to get settled and react in your body. So patience is the key in treatments such as these. It might even take a week or so to work and feel the full effect of it. However, if it takes too long to have an impact in your body, doctors could be sought and asked about it. Medicines prescribed for these anxieties sometimes work on trial and error basis. Not all medicines work and not all medications might sink in your body quickly. It takes a lot of time for it to have any sort of impact. The dosages may vary for various medications. </p>
<p>Following a medication, therapy is a preferred follow-up. A therapist is one who can help you handle the anxiety in a more pragmatic way. Therapy uses the fact of role playing which is quite an effective tool that help you work through various problems without even being in the situation before. You imagine yourself being in an anxiety-stricken situation and think about how you could have avoided it. This makes it less worrisome and fearful. These skills might prove to be handy someday when you really are put in such a situation. </p>
<p>Self calming techniques can be kind of a morale booster if you are suffering from a panic attack and have no help to seek out. The most common self calming technique being breathing. Ten deep breathes through your nose can be rally soothing and helpful for you to counter panic attacks. It boosts your spirit and calms you down terrifically and thereby preventing any panic attack striking you. You can imagine yourself handling such predicaments with ease and feel inspired to do so in real time. This certainly helps to regain control and focus and hence preventing panic attacks take the better of you. There are many other tools that can help you with panic attacks. A therapist is probably the best person who can individually help you control such attacks. Hard work and good medication can ensure a good life without panic attacks.

<p>Firstly, what is a panic attack? A commonly accepted definition of a panic attack is &#8216;an exaggeration of the body&#8217;s normal response to fear, stress or excitement&#8217;. 20% of the adult population have experienced a panic attack which if left untreated can become a more regular occurrence. Some people have one or two panic attacks and never experience another while others have attacks once a month or several times each week. Even the fear of anticipating the next attack can be quite overwhelming for most people.</p>
<p>Typical signs of a panic attack area pounding heart, profuse sweating, higher sensory alertness and thoughts racing through the head which can be brought on without warning during any daily activity. Other symptoms include a tingling sensation in the limbs and a feeling of faintness. All of these sensations are brought on by adrenalin flooding the body in response to a potentially threatening situation. Some people can get so panicked that they will admit themselves to the emergency room in the mistaken belief that they&#8217;re having a full blown cardiac arrest. In fact twenty five per cent of those people who are admitted to hospital for chest pains are experiencing panic attacks and not heart attacks. Panic attacks can come on very quickly and usually last for between five and 20 minutes.</p>
<p>One of the causes of panic attacks is chronic stress which can be caused by financial worries, loss of a job, or perhaps a divorce, but more generally through unresolved emotional issues. People can have a full blown panic attack because they have grown up with some type of emotional trauma which they have repressed and never really dealt with. The situation can be exasperated through lack of sleep and the use of drugs, nicotine and alcohol or a poor diet which is high in sugar and caffeine which can all contribute to feelings of anxiety.</p>
<p>Psychotherapy can also be just as important in treating panic disorders as medication. Mental therapy helps establish the irrational fears which can then be addressed with relaxation techniques. A combination of both medical and psychological treatment can ease anxiety and prevent panic attacks, together with proper lifestyle choices.</p>
<p>Panic attacks can affect both men and woman, but women are much more likely to seek help whereas men typically tend to internalize anxiety and stress and may even turn to alcohol in order feel more relaxed. Use of alcohol is not a long term effective treatment and can even lead to<br />
alcoholism.</p>
<p>If you do experience a panic attack the first thing to concentrate on is your breathing. When we&#8217;re anxious we tend to breathe more shallow which in turn leads to increase in heart rate. You should take deep breaths and try to relax. Longer term treatment should include therapy, medication and a healthier lifestyle. Follow the basics of self care with exercise and diet, and surround yourself with a support network that you can talk and discuss any issues, so that you don&#8217;t have to live in fear.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s pretty clear that the economy is bad with only a few holdouts are denying it at this point. So what to do when you are on an <a href="http://www.jrandolphlaw.com/h1b.shtml">H1B visa</a> and you get laid off? Well first of all don&#8217;t panic. You likely have a visa that lasts for years at this point so you are NOT accruing unlawful presence even though you ARE out of status. What in the world does that mean? Well, simply put too much unlawful presence means that you will not be allowed back into the US for many years. Specifically, 180 days to 365 days of unlawful presence means that you will be barred from the US for three years should you leave and attempt to return. Anything over a year results in a 10 year bar to reentry should you leave the United States.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>But I&#8217;m out of status so I&#8217;m accruing unlawful presence right?</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>No, not at all. The date on your I-94 rules your world. So if you still have time on your I-94 then you are not accruing unlawful presence until that date has passed.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>GREAT! I&#8217;ll just stay!</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>Well the bad news is that you ARE deportable since you are out of status so that&#8217;s a really bad idea! Additionally, you can&#8217;t change your status to any other status once you are laid off since you are no longer in valid non-immigrant status. That means you&#8217;ll have to leave if you try to change your status.</p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong>So what do I do??</strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p>I can&#8217;t answer that question for you. However, I can say that you aren&#8217;t supposed to be here (and I would never advocate that you violate any immigration laws) BUT if you quickly find a new and appropriate H1B visa sponsor you MAY get lucky and the USCIS MAY allow you to change employers without leaving. It&#8217;s certainly happened before and, arguably, you getting laid off isn&#8217;t your fault and you and your new employer shouldn&#8217;t be punished for you getting laid off. In other words, you shouldn&#8217;t have to spend the money to leave the US, get your new H1B issued, and then reenter costing you and your employer time and money. The likely worst case scenario in this instance is the USCIS issuing you an H1B but making you leave to get your new visa stamped. But you&#8217;ll have to find an appropriate job and beg for mercy from one of the most merciless agencies in the United States!</p>
