PostHeaderIcon Can someone help me with panic attacks/anxiety??

I suffer from extreme panic attacks and general anxiety. Can anyone tell me how to stop a panic attack, or something that can prevent these attacks from happening? They seem to come out of nowhere, and they happen quite often. Any suggestions?!

I have the same thing. I go to a therapist and that seems to eliminate stress. Talk to your doctor about an anxiety medication called Prozac. It takes 3-5 weeks to work and i am on it. it seems to help me alot. When i am in a stressful situation it keeps me calm and helps me to make a rational decision. It is not for everyone but it might be for you!!! Try it and best of luck!


PostHeaderIcon can't sleep, wake up in a panic during the night HELP?

Recently i havn't been sleeping and wake several times during the night although i'm wide awake in the morning i have an 8 month old son but he sleeps through the night i wake thinking he's falling out of the bed whenever my partner rolls over, and nearly strangle him in the process thinking he's my son i'm currently getting about 3-4hrs sleep a night yet i'm not tired. Please any suggestions would really help i think im going mad !!!

I need to know how to get through an attack.Discovered they usually last about 10 or so minutes.

Take a really deep breath hold it until you count to ten and release, do this about 5 times. Also, you need to stop and think about a time or place that you felt really happy and safe. Once you have this place in mind (it could be anything, mine is on a snow covered mountain in Colorado that I felt so much piece.) Then you concentrate really hard and imagine yourself in that location. You should feel the symptoms ease slowly but surely. You can also try prayer as God is the only true healer.

xanax is a great medication that helps me a lot with panic attacks.. or lexapro is great.. keeps you calm, and helps you able to move yourself forward.. the work needs to come from you, not a magic pill!

The past 2 weeks I have been really stressed with college essays and apps. I have had like 3 panic attacks that really scared the crap outa me, but nothing ended up happening. Since they happened I have been really tired, and dont feel like doing much all day. Is this fatigue a side effect of stress and panic attacks?

Well, the panic attacks can be an effect of being stressed out. I used to have panic attacks when I would have to get up and go to work. You need to try to slow things down and just do the best that you can. Don't get stressed out over your work. The fatigue can also be a result of stress and the fact that you are so busy.

You have to relax. Easier said than done, I know. I used to lie on my bed and try to relax my muscles one at a time. Breath deeply and slowly and with each breath concentrate on one part of your body. Start with your hands. Breath in….. breath out and let your hands relax….. then do your feet….. then your arms…….. If it takes four or five breaths don’t worry just keep letting each piece try to relax. or work on one toe or one finger. Close your eyes, remember it can’t hurt you, and breath. I usually never got past my lower legs before I fell asleep and when i woke I felt a little better.
